Initial Appointment
The initial assessment is a 60-90 minute detailed evaluation, where I will focus on obtaining an accurate psychiatric history and evaluating treatment needs. This evaluation will help formulate a customized treatment plan to fit your needs. I may or may not recommend medications as part of treatment, based on the diagnosis and symptoms.
Medications
I stay up to date with the latest research and treatment trends in psychiatry by engaging in continued medical education (CME) as required by ABPN and by continuing to teach at the psychiatry residency program at Griffin Memorial Hospital. This means that I use an evidence-based medicine approach for medication management. You will receive extensive education regarding your symptoms and diagnosis, treatment plan and medication regimen. The decision to start medications is an important one and I will discuss risks/benefits, side effects and treatment goals for target symptoms in detail with you. I will regularly see you for appointments at a frequency determined by your response to treatment, your progress, and our mutual availability.

Psychotherapy
I utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy as a foundation and have had comprehensive supervision during and after my residency training. I am a member of American Psychoanalytic Association. I also supervise therapy cases for psychiatry resident physicians in training. I practice brief psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Couples Therapy. Psychotherapy is offered once or twice weekly, and may be an additional component in an individual’s treatment plan.
Non-Clinical Services
Informal case consultation is one of the most important things a practicing psychiatrist and/or a therapist can do to enhance their practice and develop their skills. These case consultations are generally an hour long. There is no patient-physician relationship established due to informal case consultations, nor this establishes a supervisory or collaborative relationship.
I will generally start with a 30 minute get to know you phone call to discuss your goals for the consultation sessions. Please be ready to provide up to 3 current professional references, along with your professional license information for me to verify your credentials, and proof of current liability insurance, if you are not being referred by a sponsoring institute.
This option is only available for MD, DO, psychiatry resident physicians and licensed therapists. So, if you are a psychiatrist practicing psychotherapy with or without medication management and/or a licensed therapist, and are in need of ongoing informal case consultation, please contact my office at 405-360-8930.
Cost:
MD/DO/Licensed Therapist: $150 an hour
Resident Physicians $120 an hour
